Mei Rideout
Associate Staff
Max and Mei Rideout arrived from Toronto, Canada in 2016. Max was on staff with Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada, working with international students, and Mei was a primary school principal. They moved to Wellington to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren in Titahi Bay.
Max became a Christian as a student at the University of Waterloo. Mei moved from Hong Kong to Canada as an international student at University of Toronto. They both made life-long Christian friendships in their student groups and their university experience was formative in their Christian lives.
They visited TSCF’s Summit conference in 2015, and a warm welcome by TSCF staff and students confirmed God’s calling to work with university students here. They have served faithfully in Wellington since they arrived in the country.
Max was diagnosed with a brain tumour and sadly, on Friday, 17th June, 2022, Max died peacefully in the care of the Mary Potter Hospice in Wellington. We grieve his passing from this life, but not as those with no hope, for, as Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26). Read more by visiting our Remembering Max Rideout page here.
