Anna Jacobs
Auckland Staff Worker
I loved being part of Christian Union when I was a uni student in Melbourne. I learnt so much and made so many friends who continue to walk with me in my Christian life. I became more and more involved over my science degree and was then very sad to leave when I graduated.
Two years after graduating I knew God was guiding me back to student ministry, so in 2018 I started my apprenticeship with AFES. I have been serving in a staff worker role ever since, alongside getting my masters degree at Ridley Theological College. I have loved the opportunity to work with university students, to encourage them in their faith, to help them understand who Jesus is and to know God’s word better. Over my time with AFES I have had the privilege of working on a large campus with the local students, then with a much smaller campus group, and more recently in a part of the ministry to international student.
Through the AFES national conferences each year I heard about what God is doing in our sister movements around the world, which is so encouraging and also deeply challenging! And it prompted me to think about whether I could serve God better by stepping into student ministry somewhere else in our region of the South Pacific. And Aotearoa, my mother’s homeland, is where I have landed!
Outside of ministry I’ve recently fallen back in love with dancing, enjoy getting out into God’s beautiful creation, reading and periodic creative pursuits.
